I loved this post. You spoke from the heart and I felt it. I agree with you on how these companies are making huge profits off our good intentions. The term I've come to understand is 'volun-tourism' and how it can be a way for companies to exploit both the volunteer and the less fortunate. Money does change many people and it's just a sad reality of the world we live in.

Good on you for identifying the need directly and supporting it with your heart - truly inspiring. I feel blessed knowing you ??

Lieve Robin,
Ik heb je die jaren (van op een afstandje) gekend en ik ben blij dat ik je verhaal via je blog heb kunnen lezen. Het feit dat je op je jonge leeftijd al heb ervaren dat het leven niet altijd makkelijk is, maar dat je kiest om het positieve te omarmen, maakt dat je een sterke en slimme meid bent. Je hebt voor iets gevochten dat veel mensen niet toe in staat zijn. Je laten gaan, verdrietig zijn, negatief of verzuurd worden is waarschijnlijk makkelijker. Ikzelf heb ook al wat zware dobbers op mijn pad tegen gekomen en zoals je ook zegt, of het nu gaat om een eetstoornis, verdriet, depressie, ziekte, ... , je 'kijk' op het leven, heb je zelf in de hand. Maar t' is hard werken en de ene dag gaat al beter dan de andere. Ik weet zeker dat, wat je nog gaat tegenkomen in je leven, je er tegen opgewassen zult zijn. Je bent een mooi iemand, Robin!
